| Chapter IV Brief Introduction to Chengdu DEI Enterprises Chengdu is focusing its efforts on establishing Chinese Digital Entertainment R&D, Production and Operation Center, one of the "Two Centers" in DEI, which is located in the Digital Entertainment Software Park within the National Software Industry Base of Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. Chengdu DEI has evolved from the initially "unorganized and haphazard" small enterprises to the present enterprise groups. In terms of Network Game, Tianfu Software Digital Media Industry Group has taken shape, which is chiefly composed of CPSOFT and Hanke. With its integrated resources, the Group is vigorously developing software outsourcing services chiefly in digital entertainment and software testing. In terms of mobile phone games, there exists Chengdu Digital Entertainment Information Industry Group mainly consisting of Huacheng Information Industry Group and UNITED IDEAS SOFTWARE, which has actively built up a game outsourcing platform aimed at 3G technology and has launched mobile phone games and video services with Chengdu Media Group. In the following, we will introduce some representative enterprises and their products in six main fields in DEI of Chengdu. 4.1 Network Games Chengdu Dreamwork Internet Information Co., Ltd Founded in December 2002, the company chiefly develops and operates internet entertainment software and is one of the excellent companies in the industry in China. It has the independent qualification to operate ICP Network games and attaches importance to uncovering game materials in the local culture. The company has independently developed and operated the representative large-scale game -- "XIAYIDAO", which is quite famous in China. The company finds its market in China (including HongKong, Macao, and Taiwan) and Southeast Asia. The company is also the digital entertainment talent base for software schools of the UESTC and Sichuan University and is the enterprise that undertakes "Network Game-Developing Platform Project" of Ministry of Information Industry. "Happy Story of Sanmao", the company's large-scale 3D Network Game, has won the exclusive authorization in the game field from the cartoon image of "Sanmao" created by Mr. Zhang Leping, a famous Chinese cartoonist. Depending on specialized game talents and scientific management, the company has successfully operated quite a few overseas large-scale Network games and takes the lead in the Network games industry in West China.
